The 20th of Safar is known as the day of Arba‘īn as it marks the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam al-Ḥusayn (a) in Karbala. Since the fall of Saddam Husein in Iraq in 2003, the world has been witnessing millions of pilgrims who annually travel to Iraq to mark Arba‘īn by walking between Najaf to Karbalā’ over a couple of days.
